Christmas Tree 2023 - Tillman Kaiser

To celebrate this year’s Christmas season, the Heidi Horten Collection will present a sculpture by Tillman Kaiser from December 4, 2023, through February 2, 2024, in which he translates the form of the Christmas tree into his characteristic artistic language. The composition, featuring rhythmic folds, consists of two parts that interlock like an “upper” and a “lower” section.

The artist subverts the sculpture’s strict symmetrical form by incorporating elements taken from a context unrelated to art. Thus, a mirrored glass object forms the center of the sculpture, while a wire spiral hangs from above and protrudes into the form. Both objets trouvés are transformed by their new context and take on new meaning.
